Andhra Pradesh Becomes India’s Green Data Centre Capital

With the CII Partnership Summit 2025 going on in Vizag, Andhra Pradesh is already making headlines. The event is targeting massive investment commitments of over ₹11 lakh crore from nearly 400 companies, which could create around 13 lakh new jobs. With this success, CBN is leaving no stone unturned to bring every possible good opportunity to the state.

Now, the focus is not just on regular data centres. The state is stepping into a new era of sustainable, clean-energy powered digital infrastructure after the massive investments by Google, Adani and Reliance.This shift shows how the state is planning for long-term growth through sustainable means while supporting to parallely build the existing data centre ecosystem in the state.

In a major breakthrough, the AP Government signed an MoU with the globally renowned Brookfield Group. It is not just an investment opportunity but a major opportunity that leads a way into how data centres can be built and powered by green energy without exhausting the state’s natural resources. As part of the agreement, Brookfield will set up a massive 3-gigawatt clean-energy-driven data centre in Andhra Pradesh that makes it the largest sustainable data centre in India so far.

By far in India, only Adani was successful in building a Green Data centre with a capacity of 1 GW which is the highest and with Brookfield’s investment, now the capacity has been tripled to 3 GW making it the largest in India.

Today, data centres require huge amounts of electricity that are generally sourced out from coal and water which are completely non-renewable and lead to just short term usage of these data centres. But Brookfield’s investment which has pioneered in developing data centres through green, sustainable, and future-ready models. This move not only brings global attention but also places AP at the centre of India’s sustainable tech revolution.

Brookfield isn’t stopping with just one project. They plan to invest nearly ₹1.06 lakh crore building module manufacturing units, supply-chain networks, green-energy projects, global capability centres, logistics hubs, ports and even industrial townships. All of this will create thousands of jobs, boost the state’s economy, and bring long-term development.

Earlier, many opposition leaders criticised CBN after Google’s big data centre plan in Vizag, saying it wasn’t sustainable. But with this new green data centre investment, CBN has clearly answered his critics. He has shown that he fully understands the future of data centres and the direction technology is heading towards. With these steps, he’s proving that the future isn’t just about speed and storage, it’s about sustainability and responsible growth for the state.
