Andhra Pradesh has introduced a new policy called the Neighbourhood Workspace (NWS) Policy 2025–2030, and it is the first time any state in India is doing something like this. The idea is simple: instead of people travelling long distances for office work, small work centres will now be set up in every mandal, right near people’s homes.
Recently the government has issued a G.O issued in this regard in which the guidelines for this policy are there. These centres will have basic office needs like seats, meeting rooms, power supply with high speed broadband internet supply, printers and clean washrooms. Anyone who wants to start such a workspace can apply, and the government will help them with rent and setup costs. For example, the first workspace in any mandal will get free rent for five years and even the furniture and office setup costs will be supported by the government.
This whole idea was first discussed under the state’s IT plans and now it has become a full policy with step-by-step rules. The goal is to make it easier for people to work from home instead of crowded cities. It will help students, employees, freelancers and small companies find a clean and safe place to work without spending too much money.
CBN and IT Minister Lokesh played a key role in bringing this policy to life. Naidu is known for supporting technology and development for many years, and Lokesh has been working to make IT jobs reach every town in AP. Their idea is that opportunities should not stay only in big cities and so every district should grow equally on digital and IT front.
With this new policy, Andhra Pradesh is setting an example for the whole country. It shows how simple ideas can make life easier for people and bring work closer to home.
