Sarpanch Polls: Congress Dominating ‘Unanimously’

The incumbent Congress government in Telangana has been able to largely win the public mandate, not just in the recent assembly by election, but also in the upcoming Sarpanch election.

According to the latest developments, Congress party is able to comfortably lead its competitors in the upcoming Sarpanch election.

Ahead of the first phase of Gram Panchayat elections on December 11, an overwhelming 95% of unanimously elected Sarpanches are Congress backed candidates. This is a strong indication of the ground level scenario as it appears that Congress has firmly secured the support of the masses.

Total Sarpanch posts in Phase 1: 3,836

Unanimously elected candidates: 385

Congress-backed candidates: 357

Appears that Congress has started to follow a “unanimous” formula for the Sarpanch elections coming up from December 11 to 17. It is evident that Revanth Reddy is still a form favourite for the masses in Telangana.
