Due to the ongoing fiasco involving the Indigo airlines, a large portion of the private air travel fleet in India came to a standstill. Considering the fact that Indigo has been the biggest player in the Indian domestic air travel market, their seizure of operations has led to repercussions.
With Indigo temporarily sizing down on the operations due to internal conflict, other companies have taken the occasion to largely enhance the ticket prices.
Earlier in the day today, there were reports about certain air travel tickets between two metro cities in India costing as much as ₹80,000, which is costly than international flight tickets.
Subsequently, the government of India has taken a big decision with regard to the ticket prices, fiasco that is leaving the travellers perplexed. The government of India and the civil aviation ministry have imposed a new cap on flight ticket prices.
Upto 500km: ₹7,500
500-1000km: ₹12,000
1000-1500km: ₹15,000
Above 1500km: ₹18,000
These will be the maximum per ticket prices based on the number of kilometres and all the airlines must abide by the same. The government has made very clear of it.
