Court Delivers Shocking Verdict on Messi Event Organiser

Global Football icon Lionel Messi’s whirlwind visit to India as part of his G.O.A.T tour  started on a tumultuous note in Kolkata on Saturday after chaos unfolded at the salt lake city because of uncontrollable anger from spectators who turned violent due to utter mismanagement of event organisers. Even after the intervention of police personnel, the situation could not be brought under control, forcing Messi to make an abrupt exit.

The Kolkata police on Saturday afternoon arrested the main organiser and promoter of this high-profile tour, Sataru Dutta, just before taking off from Kolkata to land in Hyderabad for the next event. Dutta was taken into custody at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International airport when he accompanied Messi and few others to board the flight for Hyderabad with the intervention of DGP.

Today morning, Dutta was produced before the Bidhannagar Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate where he was denied bail and sent to 14 day police custody. Though Dutta’s lawyer argued that his client has been framed in the matter and the arrest is maligning his image, the police contended that it was the responsibility of event organisers to ensure that everything is planned smoothly without any mismanagement. They alleged that prima facie evidence revealed how the organisers failed to make adequate arrangements for the star’s visit.

Dutta is said to have denied any responsibility for the gross failure of the event and also offered assurance that tickets would be refunded to audience. However, he didn’t get any relief as the Court refused to grant him respite and ordered immediate custody for further investigation.

The police further said they will be conducting detail inquiry into the event and also find out how organisers allowed the sale of bottled water and beverages inside the stadium premises even though they are banner items.
