Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar has issued a strong and emotional warning to people who are neglecting their elderly parents. He said he is deeply disturbed by the growing number of complaints coming from senior citizens who are suffering because their own children are ignoring them.
Sajjanar revealed that apart from regular cases like cheating, cybercrime, and crimes against women, he is now increasingly meeting aged parents who come to him in pain. These parents request him to call and counsel their children, take legal action if needed, or even help them get shifted to old age homes. He said the rise in such requests is worrying and heartbreaking.
Speaking directly to children who neglect their parents, Sajjanar gave a clear warning. He said one day everyone will grow old, and there is a strong chance that their own children may treat them the same way they are treating their parents now. He urged people to think about their future before ignoring their responsibilities today.
He also reminded people that parents may develop health issues or change in behaviour as they age, but that should never become a reason to abandon them. Sajjanar pointed out that these are the same parents who worked hard all their lives, educated their children, and helped them reach a good position in society.
