Vizag will emerge as the IT hub of Andhra Pradesh and also likely stand next to Bengaluru as the preferred destination for IT firms to set up their campuses. The speed of doing business by the state government officials is proving to be a gamechanger in drawing multiple IT firms to the state. In addition, the heavy incentives being offered to them are also drawing several IT giants to the Port City.
Telugu print media reports confirmed that Infosys has agreed to set up its permanent campus in Vizag. In all likelihood, an official announcement about the campus would be made in this month.
The government has agreed to allocate 20 acres of land to the IT firm at Yendada in Vizag. Government officials have been holding discussions with Infosys representatives for the last two months about some basic infrastructure and the incentives to be provided to the tech giant. Infosys and other affiliated organisations have campuses in nearly 50 countries in the world.
Infosys has campuses at Bengaluru, Mangaluru and Mysore in Karnataka, Hyderabad, Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram in south India. By establishing the campus in Vizag, Infosys will have its presence in all the states in south India.
Google has already agreed to set up a 1,000-MW data centre at a cost of Rs 1.33 lakh crore. The foundation stone for the works would be laid in March next year. Reliance also expressed its readiness to begin 1,000-MW data centre works in the state while Sify had already begun works relating to its 500-MW data centre.
Other tech giants including Cognizant, TCS and Accenture also signed pacts to open their permanent campuses in Andhra Pradesh.
