Fact Check: Has the AP Deputy CM Countered the Karnataka Deputy CM?

Congress leader, Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar on Thursday made scathing remarks on BJP led NDA government at the centre over the remaining of the MNREGA scheme to Viksit Bharat – G RAM G Bill. He dared the Narendra Modi’s dispensation to remove Mahatma Gandhi’s photo from currency notes. He questioned if it has the guts to take such a bold decision to erase the legacy of Gandhi.

These comments from DK Shivakumar took a viral turn when one of the social media handles impersonating as Andhra Pradesh Dy. CM and Janasena supremo Pawan Kalyan quoted Shivakumar’s remarks and posted “This task is assigned to ‘UPI’….Its already on its mission. Dont worry” on his X handle.

The X handle name and the profile image used by the impersonator made many believe that it came from Pawan Kalyan’s personal account and this resulted in thousands of reposts and likes. The post went viral quickly all over on social media. Though many were quick to note that the anonymous handle is an exact replica of Pawan Kalyan’s official X account, the post gained lakhs of views in no time.

Quite shockingly, some leading media outlets have carried out a news item and reported that political leader Pawan Kalyan, an ally of NDA, gave a strong counter to DK Shivakumar on X. Many of their followers were shocked on how the media agency failed to cross check the fact before publishing it. They realised it too late and removed the article before receiving huge backlash from users.

Meanwhile, Janasena supporters and fans raised an alarm about the fake account created to mislead the public while disguising as Pawan Kalyan.
