Why Does Pawan Get Full Credit for the ‘Amarajeevi’ Project?

For the people of East and West Godavari districts, safe drinking water has been a long-pending concern. Despite having Godavari which is one of India’s biggest rivers, many villages still depended on unsafe groundwater and tanker supply.

Now, thanks to Pawan Kalyan who himself is an MLA from one of the Godavari’s Pithapuram constituency has come up with a major plan to resolve this issue which is the Amarajeevi Jaladhara Drinking Water Mission, a project that can truly be called his own vision that he promised to the people before the elections.

This project cannot be just looked at from the view of its infrastructure development angle but it is important to notice the timing and intention  behind the project. The fact that can be noticed is that for the past five years, the central government funds meant for drinking water projects were available. However, during the previous YSRCP government under Jagan, these funds were largely not used.

After coming into power, Pawan Kalyan moved quickly. Understanding the urgency, he personally took up the issue with the Centre and requested an extension for the pending funds. Due to continuously crossing deadlines, there was a chance the Centre might take back these funds.

But with the NDA government in power in the state and the DCM’s support, the project began and funds were used, completing the project in just a year after the new government was formed. Not only was the extension granted, but thousands of crores were cleared to finally push the drinking water project into action.

The Amarajeevi Water Mission aims to provide clean, piped drinking water to lakhs of households across East Godavari and West Godavari districts. This will reduce health issues, cut down medical expenses and especially help women who spend hours every day arranging water for their families.

Most importantly, this project shows Pawan Kalyan’s governance style where he keeps on identifying neglected issues, then acts fast and later ensures that public money actually reaches people.

This was also seen in his earlier initiatives where he laid a 100-day action plan to fix roads and provide modern facilities for the state’s tribal areas. That is why many believe the full credit for the Amarajeevi Jaladhara Drinking Water Mission  belongs to Pawan Kalyan.
