It has been well over a decade since the bifurcation of United Andhra Pradesh, but even to this day, the divided Andhra Pradesh state continues to be an integral part of Telangana politics.
Whenever Telangana leaders find the need for separatist Telangana sentiment, they readily bring up the Andhra Pradesh discussion and a similar scenario is being observed now.
If we observe the political moments in the recent days, chief minister Revanth Reddy has been referring to KTR as ‘Andhrodu’ by reinstating that the latter had done his graduation in Guntur. The outward implication here is that KTR essentially has Andhra connect.
And in response to this, KTR brought out a new factor of his own as he targeted Revanth at the family level. “ Yes, it is a fact that I studied in Guntur. But I have also studied across the globe and have best experience. How is it my fault that Revanth Reddy could not study adequately? Even I can speak about state sentiments by saying his son in law is from Bhimavaram. Isn’t Bhimavaram from Andhra Pradesh? So should I refer to Revanth Reddy as Bhimavaram Bullodu?”.
The direct references to Guntur and Bhimavaram, by the top leaders of Telangana, including KTR and Revanth, have kept Andhra references at the focal point of Telangana politics. It is interesting to note that Andhra sentiment is working in Telangana even after 12 years and still being milked by the very top hierarchy leaders as well.
