Nani’s Damage Control on Jagan’s Amaravati Rant!

The people of Andhra Pradesh delivered an overwhelming mandate against Jagan, largely due to his inhumane treatment of Amaravati and the confusing handling of the three capitals proposal. However, it appears that Jagan has not changed his attitude towards Amaravati even now.

As recently as yesterday, Jagan went on another rant against Amaravati and made several damaging remarks about the people’s capital. He questioned the need to build a world class capital on river banks and attempted to project Amaravati as a waste of public money. He further suggested that it would be better to build a capital near the Vijayawada to Guntur highway.

These comments against the officially designated capital of Andhra Pradesh were received very negatively by the public. There was widespread criticism of the former Chief Minister for his continued hostility towards Amaravati.

Soon after, former cabinet minister Perni Nani stepped in to carry out damage control on behalf of Jagan. He attempted to dilute the impact by offering his own explanation for Jagan’s comments.

Nani claimed that Jagan’s remarks on Amaravati were being misinterpreted and misreported. He said that Jagan merely questioned the logic of constructing a capital near river banks. Nani added that Jagan had asked whether Chandrababu Naidu and his family would build their Heritage offices near river banks and insisted that they should answer this first.

The key issue here is that the people of Andhra Pradesh are deeply concerned about having a single, functional capital. This is exactly what Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is prioritising, as he is actively pushing forward the Amaravati project with focus and determination.

On the other hand, Jagan and the YCP ecosystem continue to attack the people’s capital, a strategy that has been repeatedly backfiring. The fact that Perni Nani had to rush into damage control within 24 hours of Jagan’s comments clearly suggests that YCP once again felt the public backlash for opposing Amaravati, according to political observers.
