Handling Scandals: JSP-TDP Show Speed, YSRCP Delays

The way political parties handle internal discipline has once again become a talking point in Andhra Pradesh politics. While parties like the Jana Sena Party and the Telugu Desam Party have shown urgency in dealing with allegations against their leaders, critics argue that the YSR Congress Party continues to suffer from delayed and selective action.

In the recent controversy involving Jana Sena Railway Koduru MLA Arava Sridhar sex scandal, the party leadership moved swiftly. Within hours, a three-member inquiry committee was formed, the MLA was asked to stay away from party activities, and a clear seven-day deadline was set to complete the probe. Critics say this quick response sent out a strong message that accountability matters, even before legal proceedings begin.

On the other hand, critics point out that YSRCP’s past handling of similar cases tells a different story. During its time in power, leaders such as Gorantla Madhav, Ambati Rambabu, and Avanthi Srinivas Rao, MLC Antha Babu faced serious controversies, but the party leadership largely remained silent or acted much later. In fact in the case of Gorantla Madhav, the party even claimed that the obscene video was fake and didn’t take any action on the same too.

The recent viral video episode involving East Godavari MLC Anantha Babu has further strengthened this criticism. Though he initially called the video fake, he later admitted to being honey-trapped and paying money to stop it from spreading. Critics question why no strong party action followed, especially when he had earlier been arrested in a murder case and yet was seen at party events.

For voters, critics say the pattern is clear. Individual mistakes may happen, but political parties are judged by how fast and transparently they respond. On that front, JSP and TDP seem to be setting a standard while YSRCP continues to struggle with the accountability and lack of part discipline.
