One of the hallmark incident in Andhra Pradesh politics is the Prayaschitta Deeksha that was taken up by Deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan during the peak of the Tirumala Laddu controversy.
He cleaned the footsteps of the sacred Kanaka Durgamma Gudi in Vijayawada as a token of resentment over the YCP-regime Tirumala Laddu contamination issue. Later, YSR Congress leaders extensively targeted him on this matter, and trolled him by saying he did dramas just to gain public attention.
This has now invited a strong reaction from Pawan Kalyan, and he was very honest about the same as well.
“When I went to Tirupati, people were constantly questioning the contamination and the general quality of the product. I felt guilty, not reacting to this as it had stuck me deeply. When a litre of normal oil is costing so much, how could they procure ghee for such a low rate? It is established that pure ghee was not used in Tirumala Laddu preparation and I took up a fight against it. I did the Deeksha out of pure responsibility and not to create a drama. I don’t need any more attention, and it is just my concern that made me do it.”
Kalyan is a very honest politician, and this was again on display as he had an earnest reaction to the Laddu issue and the subsequent Deeksha that was wildly trolled by YCP.
The attempt to resent for the sins of the earlier government and an honest Deeksha to undo a bit of the bad work done by YCP appears to be the main aim of Kalyan in this matter.
