Hyderabad ‘Forensic Lab Fire’ Triggers Political Doubts

Flames erupted at the Telangana State Forensic Science Laboratory (TSFSL) in Nampally on Saturday morning, creating anxiety among the staff. Noticing thick smoke from the first floor, the staff ran to safety. However, no one was injured in the incident.

On information, two fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flames. Fire was restricted to the first floor in which some computers were reported to have been damaged. Reportedly, electrical short circuit led to the fire.

Meanwhile, BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao alleged that it was an attempt to erase the evidence by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

Taking to X, he posted that he guessed there were some voice recordings in connection with the ‘Vote for Note’ case, in connection with which Revanth Reddy is facing charges. KTR hinted that the fire could have been intentionally lit up to cover up for lack of evidence in the phone tapping case.

KTR made this remark in reply to another BRS leader, Manne Krishank’s post where he asked: “What evidence are you erasing @revanth_anumula?”

With investigation into the phone tapping case involving the BRS leaders getting intensified, the war of words between the ruling Congress and Opposition BRS is also heating up.

The BRS leaders’ remarks against CM Revanth Reddy come in the wake of a fire mishap at the tourism head office in 2023.

It is worth reminding that shortly after the BRS lost the polls in 2023, a fire occurred at the tourism department head office in Himayatnagar, Hyderabad, in which several files relating to the department and forest department were also gutted.

At that time, the Congress leaders alleged that the BRS tried to destroy evidence of heavy corruption in the tourism and other departments, during its rule, by setting the files stocked in the tourism office on fire.

Sources said that the fire was spotted by an office boy and he tried to put off the flames with an extinguisher. Central Zone DCP K. Shilpavalli said that the office boy sustained minor injuries and was admitted to a hospital for treatment.
