Former Minister Ambati Rambabu was arrested in the case of abusing Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. He was out on bail currently but before that, when he was in jail, his daughter Mounika came before the Press and was talking about the family.
It is an usual practice in YSR Congress to have women in the family speak when the men are arrested so that there is sympathy.
Ambati Mounika was a surprise because she sounds stern and straight-forward. She appeared like a Perfect Political Woman and very quickly, there was a demand in YSR Congress that she should be made incharge in Rambabu’s place.
“If I did not go to jail, there would have been no issue of legacy. I have three daughters. The question of a heir does not arise. It will arise if I am not contesting from Guntur. I am completely fit and healthy. I believe I am an youngster. I will think of my alternative when I will not contest,” he said.
Until this point, it is fine but Rambabu made slightly objectionable comment later on.
“I never expected my daughter to become my support mechanism when I am in jail or in trouble. It got established now. She covered for me when I am not there. She need not be there when I am here,” Rambabu added.
Previously, Jagan Mohan Reddy used to have the same mindset. If we remember, he used his sister Sharmila and mother when he was in jail for the campaign.
Sharmila even did a Padayatra for Jagan when he was in jail. They used to campaign in elections. Once Jagan is out of jail and once Jagan is in Power, he used to keep them aside.
This mindset of using women when in trouble and then saying they don’t matter once things are fine and they are out of jail reflects a misogynistic attitude. Ambati Rambabu seems to share the same mindset as Jagan.
