A person widely known in political circles for alleged casino related controversies has reportedly been given a key role in the Bharatiya Janata Party in Telangana.
As part of the latest organisational appointments announced by state president N. Ramchander Rao, Praveen Kumar Chikoti has been named as an official spokesperson for areas including Bhagyanagar and Malakpet.
The appointment has triggered political discussion because Chikoti earlier faced allegations related to organising casino events and other activities. Several complaints were made in the past, particularly during festival seasons, accusing him of running large scale gambling operations.
There were also reports earlier that law enforcement agencies investigated the matter and issued notices in connection with the case. Chikoti himself had previously acknowledged having contacts with casino operators in foreign countries.
With the new role, he is expected to represent the party in local political activities and media briefings in the assigned areas. His appointment has now become a talking point in political circles.
