Trump’s Deadly Warning to Iran Over Strait of Hormuz

There are no signs of ceasefire in the ongoing US – Israeli war on Iran as both sides continue to make retaliatory comments on one another. The latest statement from US President Donald Trump and an equally strong riposte from Iran over the pivotal ‘Strait of Hormuz’ hints another round of escalation in the coming days.

One of the biggest consequences the world is facing due to this war is the closure of Strait of Hormuz by Iran for majority of the shipping traffic and especially for those countries which are allies of US and Israel. Due to this the oil and natural gas prices are soaring and putting huge pressure on countries like USA.

Many countries including India are suffering due to the closure of Strait of Hormuz. The energy prices are increasing with each passing day due to acute shortage of fuel and natural gas.

On Saturday, Trump issued a deadly warning to Iran and put an ultimatum to open the Strait of Hormuz in the next 48 hours or else face the consequences. He threatened to blow up their various powerplants if Iran fails to open Hormuz, a key waterway through which the fifth of world’s oil and gas pass through.

“If Iran doesn’t FULLY OPEN, WITHOUT THREAT, the Strait of Hormuz, within 48 HOURS from ‌this exact point in time, the United States of America will hit and obliterate their various POWER PLANTS, STARTING WITH THE BIGGEST ONE FIRST!” Trump said on social media.

Iran replied strongly to these warnings and said that if the U.S. attacks Iran’s fuel and energy infrastructure, then Iran would target all U.S. energy, information technology and desalination infrastructure in the region.

Trump’s latest warning comes a day after he hinted about winding down the month long escalation against Iran by the combined US – Israel forces. In a social media post on Friday, Trump said the US was “getting very close to meeting our objectives as we consider winding down our great Military efforts in the Middle East”.

More than 2,000 people have been killed in Iran since the US and Israel began their attacks on February 28. In Israel, 15 people have been killed in Iranian strikes so far.
