Special Session For Amaravati, YCP To Be Finished In Krishna & Guntur?

Andhra Pradesh Assembly will sit for a Special Session on 28th of this month and will adopt a resolution urging the Union Government to grant legal sanctity to Amaravati as the Capital City of Andhra Pradesh.

After Jagan tried to play with the Capital by bringing three capitals, Chandrababu Naidu is hellbent about getting legal status for Amaravati as the Capital. But then, the legal status ran into several procedural issues.

It is learnt that the Centre made a suggestion to the State government to amend the CRDA 2014 resolution. Hence, the Special Session of the Assembly.

This is to avoid any technical or legal complications in the future and once that is done, the Parliament will grant the Legal Sanctity to the Capital. Now, the question is about YSR Congress’s Strategy.

The Party is already avoiding the Assembly Sessions in the name of no Opposition Leader Status to Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Earlier the Party’s stand is three capitals but then, the people have rejected the idea thoroughly by reducing YSR Congress to just eleven.

Even the people of Vishakapatnam did not believe Jagan Mohan Reddy. The Party did not open its account in Vizag City. It will be interesting to see if Jagan Mohan Reddy will stick to the same stand.

Even if he skips the session, we have seen Jagan come before the media and address the issues discussed in the Assembly. If he does not do that this time, it will send a signal that he is still keeping his options open regarding the capital.

And if TDP and Janasena takes that into the people effectively, it will be deathblow for YSR Congress especially in the Krishna and Guntur districts.

In March 2025, Botsa Satyanarayana, the LoP in the AP Legislative Council, announced that they would reconsider and reveal their policy on the capital.

Botsa said that they had gone towards three capitals based on the circumstances at that time and clarified that they would discuss what their policy is now on the capital and announce it soon.

But then, nothing happened after that. Jagan did not spell the party’s stand so far but he continued to make Hate Comments on Amaravati in a few Pressmeets.
