No other regional party in the history of Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana has as much sustenance as the Telugu Desam party. The fact that the yellow brigade is celebrating 44th year of formation is an indication of its rich legacy that is beyond all question.
After originating from the revolutionary thought process of the legendary Senior NTR, TDP sustained numerous political battles, but the fighting spirit was always there to revive the party.
Possibly, the biggest challenge came in the form of YS Jagan in 2019 when TDP got relegated to 23 seats. While many people were questioning, the future of the party, Chandrababu was very resilient and kept his ways going. This eventually materialised the NDA alliance, and there has been no looking back.
Today, the TDP, which is in alliance with Janasena and BJP is the most public approved government in all of India with more than 90% representation in the Assembly. Going from humiliation in 2019, with 23 seats to forming the most powerfully elected government in the country, the comeback arc has been superior for the yellow brigade.
While this mighty fight in the recent past, might have been inspiration enough, the party is now facing a significant challenge of cementing the magnificent future that is on the cards. This would be largely made possible once the Amaravati capital project is completed and effective governance is delivered.
The veteran Chandrababu is in great synchronous, energy with Pawan Kalyan and the central BJP leadership, which would ensure the elongated run of the alliance. As long as this positive energy continues, there is not touching TDP or its alliance parties.
Unlike the previous government, which followed vendetta and revenge politics, this new government is focused entirely on administration and development, which is the good thing for people of Andhra Pradesh. With no, while it is to switch to any other government in the near future, Chandrababu and Kalyan are fighting for 4-5 continual terms of the NDA alliance in AP.
Alongside there are a few political implications that are also being drawn as the leadership gradually and steady moves from Chandrababu to next Gen leader Lokesh. He has already won the trust of the TDP cadres with friendly leadership and he’s anyway a proven minister considering all the investments he could secure till now. Lokesh is possibly the only leader who can interact with the likes of Google and Infosys to encourage them set shop in AP. This will add to his reputation.
It is a fact that TDP is undergoing transitions, systematically and administratively but the process has been very smooth. But this battle is not one in a single day, and the yellow brigade will have to maintain this momentum with regard to the alliance and also governing duties in the foreseeable future as well.
