Earlier, leaders like Pawan Kalyan and Chiranjeevi followed this strategy by contesting from two constituencies in their debut elections. Now, it is the turn of Tamil Nadu superstar Vijay to adopt a similar approach.

Earlier, Chiranjeevi contested from Palakollu and Tirupati, where he lost in Palakollu but won in Tirupati. Similarly, Pawan Kalyan contested from Bhimavaram and Gajuwaka, but lost in both constituencies.

Contesting from two constituencies is an old political strategy, but its effectiveness in today’s environment remains uncertain. Voters are now more aware and less trusting than before, and they tend to question such moves more critically. While contesting from two seats may increase the chances of winning, it also sends a mixed message to the public.

If a leader wins both constituencies, they are required to resign from one seat, which often leaves voters in that area feeling ignored or used merely as a backup option. This can create a sense of discomfort among local voters, who may feel that the leader was never fully committed to representing them.

Now, Vijay has officially announced that he will be contesting from two constituencies in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

In a closed-door meeting with TVK party leaders, Vijay confirmed that he will contest from Perambur and Trichy East.

Following this announcement, social media has been flooded with reactions. Many people believe he is playing it safe by contesting from two constituencies. Considering that the ground-level presence of TVK is yet to be firmly established, contesting from two seats improves his chances, and this appears to be a calculated move.

With the constituencies now confirmed, Vijay is expected to begin his campaign soon. With less than a month left for the Tamil Nadu elections on April 23, he will need to be highly active, not just in his own campaign but also in strengthening his party’s presence across the state.
