Politics is a very complex game that requires a lot of expertise and effective strategies to sustain. This is particularly evident if you look at the case of Tamil Nadu, BJP leader, Annamalai, who is facing a very peculiar situation.
He quit his IPS career before entering politics. Not long ago, Annamalai was the face of the BJP in Tamil Nadu and was regarded as one of the star campaigners not just in South India, but across the country. He actively campaigned for BJP candidates across South India and held significant stature within the party.
However, something extremely unexpected has happened now, as Annamalai has not featured in the list of MLA candidates that BJP had announced for the upcoming Tamil Nadu election. This can be considered as a big setback to the party at a fundamental level.
Annamalai fans and BJP supporters in general had expected him to feature in the first list of MLA candidate that was announced today, but that simply wasn’t to be.
Just a few months back, there were speculations that Annamalai could be announced as the Rajya Sabha member from Andhra Pradesh. But this did not materialise, and this was followed by speculations about the young politician, playing a crucial role in Tamil Nadu.
At the same time, it must also be noted that they have been reports about Annamalai being disappointed with the way in which the party was being handled in Tamil Nadu. He was apparently displaced with the top leadership that has been leading the party at the state level and has steadily distance at himself.
As of this day, he is still a part of the BJP, but is not playing any significant role in terms of electoral contention. So this exclusion from the first list of MLA candidates released by BJP is a bad sign for his supporters.
