PK’s Birthday Wish Sparks Controversy, Who’s to Blame?

Social media has become a crucial platform for politicians and celebrities to get closer to their audience. These days, we are seeing full-fledged, political campaigns and narratives that are being built on social media, and it has gained the power to create a revolution on its own. 

So handling social media handles of popular celebrities and politicians has become that much more important and intrinsic job for concerned teams. Now the discussion is about the social media team associated with AP deputy CM Pawan Kalyan. 

Earlier yesterday, tweet from the official handle of the deputy, CM created a huge discussion on social media. This is regarding the birthday wishes post from the deputy CM handle to actress Nithya Menon on the occasion of her birthday yesterday. 

Malayali actress Nithya Menon is one of the finest actresses of this generation, and she happened to share the screen with Kalyan in Bheemla Nayak. This might have a standard birthday wishes from the deputy CM. 

However, the choice of official handle that was used to share this post is where the problem is lying. There was a huge public backlash on using the official handle of the deputy CM to wish an actress on her birthday, and this did not sit well with the social media folk. 

People are advising the social media teams handling such accounts to be extremely cautious of the content they post. In this particular case, there is the common opinion that the recently launched Pawan Kalyan creative Works handle (cinema oriented) could have been used to share this post on Nithya’s birthday. 

At the end of the day, Kalyan will not be operating these social media handles as dedicated teams will be looking after the same. So it is the responsibility of these teams to take note of the feedback and make sure official government handles are not used for such purposes in the future. These official handles are only to be used to share wishes to leading politicians and national figures.
