Ending the suspense, Vijayashanthi has joined the BJP in the presence of party’s national general secretary Arun Singh. Welcoming her, Arun Singh handed her the party membership while Vijayashanthi was accompanied by Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay, Kishan Reddy, Dr. Laxman, Vivek Venkataswamy and others.
Speaking after joining the party, Vijayashanthi breathed fire at CM KCR. “KCR will be dethroned and BJP will form government. Then our government will dig up all the corrupt activities of KCR and TRS government,” said Vijayashanthi. “One after another KCR chased every opposition leader as his intention was not to have any opposition against him. But BJP emerged as a force that could stop KCR. With Dubbaka and GHMC elections, BJP is the only alternative for TRS in 2023 elections.”
When asked about her role in BJP, she replied that whichever party she is in, her role will be crucial. She said she will be by the side of people fighting against the KCR government.
“I joined BJP in 1998 with a sole intention for separate Telangana. I agitated for Telangana even before KCR floated TRS party. But due to differences, I came out of BJP in 2005 and established my own party, Thalli Telangana party. KCR along with Ale Narendra and late Professor Jayashankar forced me to merge my party with TRS. As situations demanded so, I did it,” she recalled.
Vijayashanthi stated that right after the Congress party initiated the process for separate Telangana in 2013, KCR suspended her from TRS on the same. “My suspension was a pre-planned thing yet I continued to fight for separate Telangana. KCR was absent in Lok Sabha when the Telangana bill was passed and later he along with his family met Sonia Gandhi but he took a u-turn and did not join the Congress. Keeping the word, I joined Congress party and after statehood was achieved, KCR and his family benefited more than no one,” said Vijayashanthi.
