Fact Check: Lokesh Spent 6 Cr Own Money For Punarvika?

It is already known that there was a widespread public movement amongst the Telugu community after the recent case of 1-year old girl child Punarvika who is suffering from a rare genetic disease.

As we had reported already, the medical procedure involved with the treatment requires the Zolgensma injection that costs Rs 16 crore. Subsequently, there was a huge public outreach program which amassed nearly Rs 10 crore.

But the ultimate push for the procurement of the injection and the safe administration of the same required government assistance and this is where Lokesh stepped in. He ensured the financial stability and procurement of this injection for the treatment and he apparently went the extra mile for the same.

According to the official fact check, Lokesh reportedly spent ₹6 crore from his own pocket to adjust the remainder of the amount required for the procurement of the injection from abroad.

Apparently, Lokesh was with the family members for the process today at the Rainbow Hospital in Hyderabad and played a crucial role in the whole saga.

But in the meanwhile certain social media users had been posting that Lokesh is trying to gain mileage from the same while adjusting funds from Andhra Pradesh government, which belongs to the public. There was an extensive hate campaign to belittle Lokesh’s contribution in this matter.

But the official fact check confirms that Lokesh was so very invested in this case that he spent his own money for the procurement and administration. This is perhaps a crucial quality that differentiates a politician from a leader.
