TDP Working President Lokesh’s One Big Mission

The swearing-in ceremony of the new TDP executive body was held with great grandeur. Party National President and Chief Minister Chandrababu administered the oath at the TDP central office in Mangalagiri.

Minister Nara Lokesh assumed charge as the Party Working President. Chandrababu administered the oath to the Politburo, as well as the national and state committees.

The party leadership constituted these committees through a blend of both seasoned and new members. For the first time in the party’s history, leaders from the Mandal and cluster levels have secured a place in the Politburo. Also, it is the first time the party is going to have a Working President.

Appointing Nara Lokesh as the Working President means it is one step closer to announcing him as their heir of Chandrababu Naidu.

From here, it may only the matter of time he becomes the Chief Minister or the Chief Minister candidate. It will only depend on how the allies respond. We are talking especially about Pawan Kalyan.

That aside, TDP’s Working President post brings supreme responsibility to Lokesh.

Traditionally Chandrababu Naidu is known for getting busy while in power with administration and ignoring the Party and Cadre.

Cadres have their own struggles to keep up and do not work for the party and then, the elections are lost. That is the reason why TDP struggles to be in power for consecutive terms.

We have seen Chandrababu Naidu himself admit that many times in the Opposition. This time, the leadership is making effort to balance the time between the party affairs and the administration.

Initially this term, there were even rumors that Lokesh would not take any ministry and concentrate completely on the Party. But then, it did not happen.

So, he will be keenly observed for the next three years to see how he is giving time for the party and is keeping it ready for 2029 elections.

Lokesh’s success as the Working President will depend on it.

He already got complete acceptance in the party as the next leader. If he happens to take care of this issue as well, we may see the cadre embrace him completely.
