In Puducherry’s lone Telugu-majority constituency, Yanam, N.R. Congress candidate Malladi Krishna Rao secured a clear victory. He defeated Congress rival Gollapalli Ashok by 4,568 votes. Out of 35,840 votes polled, Malladi received 19,863, while Ashok managed 15,295 in the closely watched contest.
