Telangana CM Revanth Reddy made a controversial remark while speaking about HYDRAA and the ongoing Musi river cleanup drive. Explaining the origin of the HYDRAA name, Revanth said the word “Hydra” was linked to Hitler’s inner system and core operational network, which inspired the naming of the enforcement body in Telangana.
According to the CM, HYDRAA was created as a strong and disciplined system to protect lakes, ponds, and government lands from encroachments across Hyderabad and nearby regions. He said thousands of retired military personnel were brought into the organisation to make the operations more effective and systematic.
Revanth stated that illegal occupations had badly damaged Telangana’s water bodies over the years and affected agriculture in several regions. He said the government introduced HYDRAA mainly to restore lakes and stop land grabbing activities.
The CM also claimed that many people voluntarily removed illegal structures after seeing the seriousness of the crackdown. He questioned critics opposing the system and asked whether such public cooperation would happen if HYDRAA was functioning unfairly.
His remarks about Hitler and the HYDRAA naming quickly sparked political debate and intense discussion on social media.
