There is currently a heated debate in Bezawada’s political circles about whether the TDP will finally grant an MLC post to former MLA Vangaveeti Radhakrishna or continue to delay the decision. Meanwhile, his followers appear to be growing frustrated.
Radha, who entered politics in 2004 as the heir to Vangaveeti Ranga, won as an MLA representing the Congress party in his very first attempt. Since then, however, he has remained in the opposition until now.
After nearly two decades, Radha is finally part of the ruling party. Although he did not contest the previous elections, he campaigned on behalf of the TDP.
Yet, his followers are reportedly dissatisfied that their leader has not been given any official position, even though the party has been in power for two years.
Before the 2019 elections, Vangaveeti resigned from the YSRCP and joined the then-ruling Telugu Desam Party, however, the TDP lost that election. His camp maintains that even though he received offers to join the YSRCP later, he did not even consider them.
His supporters argue that a leader who declined a YSRCP MLC offer in the past deserves recognition now. The former MLA campaigned for the TDP across 44 constituencies during the 2024 elections.
Chandrababu had promised during the campaign that Radha would be given a fitting position once the party came to power. Consequently, when the alliance government was formed, it was expected that Radha would be given an MLC seat in the first phase. Although four seats were allocated then, Vangaveeti was left empty-handed.
Now, with two MLC seats under the Governor’s quota falling vacant next month, his camp is hopeful that he will certainly secure one of them.
Vangaveethi Radha’s sister, Asha Kiran seems to be silently preparing ground to foray into Politics.
With Radha being politically inactive, Asha Kiran wants to portray herself as the heir of Vangaveeti Ranga. So, Radha’s followers want him to be in some position before Asha Kiran joins YSR Congress or Janasena to claim Radha’s position.
