There was once a time when Tamil Nadu was one of the safest states in India with regard to women’s safety and also general law and order maintenance. But in the recent years, things have been interesting with a massive surge in crimes against women.
Now, something significant has happened in Tamil Nadu as it is being reported that 12 sexual cases were filed in the state in the last 24 hours.
The shocking thing is that all 12 of these cases were reported in the Chennai city region alone. This includes a three year old girl child who was brutally raped and murdered, followed by seven other attacks on minor girls.
Along with that, four women were apparently assaulted in this mentioned period of 24 hours itself. The fact that as many as 12 cases of women and child abuse were reported in Chennai city in the last 24 hours has shocked everyone.
Thalapathy Vijay might be new to the job as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, but there is this pressure on him to take substantial action to this effect.
Many people on social media are commenting that it is the responsibility of CM Vijay to set a strong precedent by enforcing strict action against such culprits. Many people are commenting that a few encounters could set things right in Tamil Nadu and warn culprits of deadly consequences if they assault women.
What is for certain is that pressure is mounting on Vijay to take substantial action, and it will all come down to his intellectual decision now.
