Nara Lokesh as the HRD Minister seems to be doing some excellent work with regards to the Government Schools.
As a result, enrollment numbers in government schools are gaining momentum. Notably, compared to the 2025-26 academic year, there has been an increase of 58,065 students so far for the 2026-27 academic year.
While 3,201,607 students were enrolled in government schools (Classes 1–10) during 2025-26, the figure has reached 3,259,672 so far this year.
It is significant that 106,914 students have transferred from private schools to government schools this year.
This is an indication of the Good work done in the infrastructure and also teaching in the Government Schools in this Government.
There are 43,626 government schools across the state. The School Education Department is aiming to increase enrollment by at least ten percent compared to the previous year.
During the summer holidays, the department conducted the ‘Badi Pilustondi’ campaign.
The department projects that the total number of students in government schools will exceed 3,521,768 this year.
To achieve this target, an additional 262,096 students need to be enrolled.
Schools reopened on June 12, and the admission process is expected to conclude by July 1.
The department is confident of meeting the target.
