YSR Congress’s Official Representative Yanamala Nagarjuna was arrested this morning from his residence in Sattenapalli.
Telangana Police took him into custody over cases filed for his derogatory comments on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
A few days ago, Yanamala Nagarjuna participated in a discussion program hosted by Kommineni Srinivasa Rao on Sakshi TV.
During the discussion, when Telangana CM Revanth Reddy was mentioned, Nagarjuna lashed out furiously.
He not only addressed the Chief Minister a person holding a high constitutional office with disrespectful, informal language (using “vaadu” and “veedu”) but also hurled insults and expletives, disparagingly likening him to a Zomato delivery boy.
Video clips of these controversial remarks spread like wildfire across social media platforms like X and Facebook.
The YCP leader’s manner of speaking which simultaneously insulted a Chief Minister and hardworking delivery personnel drew strong backlash from Congress cadres and ordinary netizens alike.
Reacting sharply to this, Telangana Congress leaders and supporters of Revanth Reddy lodged complaints at various police stations, including in Hyderabad, invoking the IT Act and stringent provisions regarding statements that disrupt public order.
Acting on these complaints, the Telangana Police executed a well-planned operation, traveled to Andhra Pradesh, and took Nagarjuna into custody.
Few YSR Congress Leaders are known for their loose tongue. They were defeated in Andhra Pradesh for their language and arrogance.
Some of them have already gone to jail for the same reason. It makes no sense why people like Nagarjuna increase the enemies by invoking leaders of other states. The careless attitude brought the party to this level and it is clear they did not learn any lesson.
When in Opposition, all your energies should be directed at your opponent and you should not be shooting arrows in all directions.
The problem is that even the top leadership do not have that sense and so, it is difficult to expect the same from the smaller leaders.
