Former Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker and senior YSRCP leader Thammineni Seetharam and his family is in deep trouble, as Srikakulam police have launched an investigation into an alleged land fraud case. Several members of his family have also been named in the case.
According to police, the fraud revolves around a 900 square yard vacant land located in Chapuram Gram Panchayat limits. Investigators say the accused allegedly prepared fake death certificates, forged legal heir documents and fabricated family records to illegally claim ownership of the property.
Police claim the land was later registered in the name of Thammineni Seetharam’s son. Officials also suspect that an unrelated person was falsely shown as a legal family member to complete the registration process.
So far, 13 people have been named in the case, while eight accused have been arrested. During the investigation, police seized fake rubber stamps, mobile phones and several forged documents believed to have been used in the fraud.
Investigators are also examining the role of the concerned Sub Registrar, who allegedly approved the registration based on fake records. Police said they are probing whether Thammineni Seetharam, his wife Vani, and their son had any direct involvement. If evidence of their role is found, legal action will be taken.
Officials believe the accused may have used a similar method in other land disputes and are checking for more such cases.
