It is already known that quick grocery services in India have been catching up extremely well over the last couple of years. People have started to experience the comfort from their homes as they can place an order online, and the groceries will be delivered within 20 minutes.
Along with that, the reach of grocery portals and stores has also gone up. Market leaders like D Mart, Jio Mart, and others have been pushing up their revenues drastically.
Now the Andhra Pradesh government has committed a super impressive plan to implement a grocery chain of their own.
Civil supplies minister Nadendla Manohar spoke with the Media today, and he spoke about the idea of launching Mee Marts across Andhra Pradesh and they will primarily operate as grocery hubs.
It was confirmed by the civil supplies minister that as many as thousand marts will be operated by the government of Andhra Pradesh in the next few weeks. He announced the plan to launch these projects in this quarter itself.
This is in coordination with the ration shop supplies, which will provide 90+ items at very nominal places to the common public. So this is an effort from the government of Andhra Pradesh to reduce the prices of groceries to the public.
More competition and particularly from the government sources could reduce the private domination in this field and bring the prices for down. So it could be a matter of time before this initiation from the government of Andhra Pradesh could inspire more such activities at the government level across the country.
