Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu has strongly denied reports claiming that the Central Government is planning to blend ethanol with Aviation Turbine Fuel. He termed the claim completely false and irresponsible.
The clarification came after former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the government was preparing to mix ethanol in aircraft fuel. The remarks quickly triggered debate on social media.
Responding to the controversy, Ram Mohan Naidu said there is absolutely no proposal to blend ethanol with Aviation Turbine Fuel. He urged people not to fall for misinformation.
The minister explained that ethanol and Sustainable Aviation Fuel are entirely different. Sustainable Aviation Fuel is an internationally certified fuel that meets strict global aviation safety standards.
He added that Sustainable Aviation Fuel is recognised by the International Civil Aviation Organisation and is already being adopted by several countries after rigorous testing.
Ram Mohan Naidu stressed that spreading false information about aviation safety only creates unnecessary panic among passengers. He assured that passenger safety remains the government’s highest priority.
