Over the last four decades, the Prime Ministerial race was entirely dominated by candidates from northern India with very little representation from down South. This is largely due to the fact that the north Indian states have been deciding the Prime Minister candidate thanks to the number of MPs they have.
However, the Tamil Nadu assembly session today witnessed a pretty bold statement on the Prime Minister candidate and they certainly have a strong point to make.
While speaking against the proposed delimitation, Tamil Nadu Sports Minister Aadhav Arjuna said parties must come together for the welfare of the state.
“In the current situation, if 5 to 6 Hindi-speaking states unite, they can choose the Prime Minister. That must change. In the future, a Prime Minister should emerge from South India. from Tamil Nadu itself.” The TVK firebrand said.
Arjun is a very close associate of Thalapathy Vijay, who is the chief minister of Tamil Nadu and this is indicative enough that this could very much be the thought process of Vijay as well.
The delimitation bill has united all of South India against the NDA except for Andhra Pradesh and the TVK Minister from Tamil Nadu has made a pretty bold claim on the same.
