CJP’s ‘School Thik Karo’: Will This Become Another Big Movement?

The Cockroach Janta Party aka CJP, which attracted the nation’s attention and youth’s following with anti-NEET protests at Jantar Mantir, has now come up with its new campaign “School Thik Karo”, focusing on the poor condition of government schools, especially in rural areas.

The School Thik Karo campaign asks parents to check basic school facilities and urges sarpanches to take responsibility for improving schools. The idea is simple: identify problems, put them in the public domain and demand action.

Now, the big question is whether “School Thik Karo” can become another major youth-led movement.

Education is a sensitive and widely connected issue. From rural to urban and villages to towns to cities, parents can easily relate to problems such as poor buildings, toilets, drinking water, classrooms and basic facilities in government schools and growing fees in private schools.

However, social media attention alone may not be enough. The campaign will have to show real problems on the ground, involve parents and students, and push local authorities to take action.

If CJP can turn online discussions into real public participation and local action, “School Thik Karo” could grow into a bigger movement. For now, it is an interesting attempt to turn a basic civic issue into a youth-driven campaign.
