Naidu Gets Big Relief In Supreme Court!

The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition challenging the Andhra Pradesh government’s decisions related to land pooling for Amaravati, giving a major relief to AP CM Chandrababu Naidu and his government.

The case was related to allegations of irregularities in the acquisition of assigned lands during the Amaravati land pooling process. Former YSRCP MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy had approached the courts, alleging that Naidu and then minister P Narayana had taken decisions that benefited certain individuals.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court had earlier rejected the allegations and observed that administrative decisions taken by the government could not automatically be treated as illegal acts. The petitioner then challenged the High Court order before the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court has now dismissed the petition, upholding the earlier court decision. During the proceedings, the court questioned how irregularities could be alleged when there were no identified victims in the case.

The ruling has come as a boost to the ruling alliance at a time when Amaravati construction is progressing rapidly. The government has been focusing on developing Amaravati as the capital and completing major infrastructure works.

TDP leaders welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision and said the ruling should put an end to political allegations surrounding the Amaravati land pooling process.

The ruling NDA has also been stepping up its criticism of the previous YSRCP government over its stand on Amaravati. Leaders of the TDP and Jana Sena have said political differences should not come in the way of capital development.
