It is a standard practice in Indian politics to take part in the flag hoisting ceremony on the occasion of the Independence Day. This principal is followed by all the leading politicians, regardless of whether they are in power or in opposition.
However, it appears that the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan does not have much regard for this principle.
After losing the 2024 election Jagan has skipped the flag housing ceremony on the occasion of Independence Day for the second year in a row this year.
The defeat in the 2024 election took a significant toll on the working principles of Jagan and he had not been stepping out in the public much after that. But the fact that he has even decided to skip the flag housing ceremony, which is a harmonious procedure followed on the occasion of Independence Day is a different story.
More than a personal obligation, it is seen as a courtesy towards the great Indian flag on a special day, and that is why several leading politicians make it appoint to take part in flag hosting ceremonies.
However, Jagan has decided to skip this multiple times as he is currently comforting at his house in Bengaluru. Notably, he was very active with the flag hoisting ceremony back when he was the CM and there was a good vibe going on then. But it appears that the defeat has changed the course for him now.
