CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke has received a political invitation from Minister Ramdas Athawale who has asked the young leader to consider joining his Republican Party of India (A), which is part of the BJP-led NDA from Bihar.
Speaking to reporters, Athawale described Dipke as a young and active Ambedkarite and said joining RPI(A) would help him work towards fulfilling Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s vision.
The invitation comes at a very interesting time. Dipke has been leading the Cockroach Janta Party movement and emerged as one of the prominent faces of the recent student protests in Delhi which was very much successful in getting the minister Dharmedndra Pradhan down.
Dipke, however, has repeatedly maintained that he has no plans to enter electoral politics. He believes people have lost faith in political parties and even the election system. Instead, he wants CJP to remain a public movement that will be the voice of the people and question the government whenever it is needed.
Interestingly, Athawale also said that those who do wrong should be punished, while suggesting that Dipke should join the ruling side. Meanwhile, Dipke continues to focus on grassroots issues. He recently launched the “School Thik Karo” campaign from his native village in Maharashtra’s Hingoli district. The campaign seeks better facilities in government schools and a cap on private school fees.
At just 30, Dipke has managed to attract considerable attention through his unconventional political movement.Whether he accepts Athawale’s invitation or continues his anti-government journey outside electoral politics remains to be seen. For now, Dipke does not appear to be in a hurry to become a politician.
