Andhra Pradesh politics has seen another interesting father and son combination in the state legislature. With both holding positions at the same time, they have joined the growing list of political families with representation in AP politics.
Senior TDP leader Varla Ramaiah has now been nominated as an MLC, while his son Varla Kumar Raja is already serving as the MLA from Pamarru. This gives the father and son a rare opportunity to be part of the state legislature together.
Ramaiah is a senior TDP leader who has worked for the party for several years. He had earlier contested Assembly, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha elections but could not secure a victory.
His nomination as an MLC is being seen as recognition of his long association with the party and his contribution as a senior leader from the SC community.
Kumar Raja, meanwhile, is continuing as the elected MLA from Pamarru. With his father now entering the Legislative Council, both will be active in the AP legislature at the same time.
Andhra Pradesh already has several political families, from Chandrababu and Lokesh to Pawan Kalyan and Nagababu, and from Ayyanna Patrudu to Chintakayala Vijay, with multiple family members holding elected positions. The Varla family has now added another interesting chapter to that list.
