Lindsay Clancy’s Chilling Words After Killing Her Children

A shocking detail has emerged in the ongoing trial of Lindsay Clancy, who is accused of killing her three young children in Massachusetts in January 2023. A hospital chaplain who met Clancy after the incident testified about her disturbing reaction during their first conversation.

According to chaplain Sheila Cavanaugh, Clancy told her that she was “so glad” her children were safe. Cavanaugh said Clancy appeared emotionally flat at the time and was still receiving hospital treatment after surviving an attempted suicide.

The chaplain also testified that Clancy later spoke about hearing a persistent male voice before the killings. According to the testimony, Clancy claimed the voice had instructed her to kill her children and then herself.

Clancy’s defense has argued that she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis and was not criminally responsible for the deaths. A defense psychiatrist testified that she was in a psychotic state and believed she was protecting her children when she killed them.

The prosecution has strongly challenged that argument, maintaining that Clancy deliberately killed her three children. Prosecutors have questioned the evidence supporting the psychosis claim and pointed to inconsistencies in her behavior and medical records.

With the defense now having rested its case, the high profile trial is moving towards its final stage. Closing arguments are expected soon, with the case continuing to draw intense attention because of the conflicting claims surrounding Clancy’s mental state.
