King is an upcoming Bollywood film directed by Siddharth Anand, with Shah Rukh Khan playing the lead role. Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, and others also star in the film. With the film set to hit screens next month, the team has decided to begin promotions. As part of this, they launched Tu Mil Jaaye, but the song has received mixed reactions.
The chemistry between the lead pair looks good, and the song sounds decent too. Ed Sheeran’s English lyrics in the middle add a nice touch, while the tune has a pleasant feel and could grow on listeners with time. However, despite these positives, there are a few aspects of the song that have drawn criticism.
From the lead pair to the overall visual presentation, several aspects have failed to impress audiences. It is evident from the beginning that the song relies heavily on green-screen sequences. The VFX work could have been better, as some portions look artificial. The team has also incorporated Artificial Intelligence, which doesn’t seem to add much value to the visuals.
The team appears to have intended to make SRK look younger using de-aging techniques. However, the results haven’t been entirely convincing, with his face looking slightly unnatural in certain portions. His cheeks and nose appear artificial, while Deepika’s screen presence lacks the usual glow and energy. The team also seems to be following a familiar approach, with shades of the Pathaan formula, rather than offering something fresh.
At a time when several new-age films are lining up, some of Hindi cinema’s biggest stars continue to rely on spy and action genres. While these films have their own audience, the formula may need something extra to attract viewers. However, the star power of the cast could still work in the film’s favour at the box office. It remains to be seen how well the formula works for King.
The film is scheduled for a grand release on December 24, 2026.
