Lokesh’s Much-Needed Ego Advice For Both Parties?

Minister and TDP National Working President Nara Lokesh has given a much-needed message to the TDP leaders and cadres ahead of the upcoming local body elections in Andhra Pradesh.

Lokesh’s advice is not just relevant to the TDP. It applies equally to all three parties in the ruling NDA alliance, especially at a time when personal egos and seat-sharing issues could create unnecessary differences between the partners.

Addressing TDP workers, Lokesh said, “Because of ego and arrogance, 151 seats (YCP) could come down to just 11. We should remember that and work together.” He also made it clear that the alliance should work together to make Chandrababu Naidu the Chief Minister again.

This statement carries two clear signals. First, Lokesh reminded the party leaders about the 2019 election result and the importance of avoiding ego and arrogance. Second, he stressed the need for unity within the alliance to ensure another victory for CM Chandrababu Naidu.

The message comes at an important time. With local body elections approaching, differences over seat sharing are already becoming a talking point among alliance supporters.

Some Jana Sena leaders have been making public statements that their party deserves more seats this time. At the same time, some TDP supporters have also been publicly criticising such demands.

These public statements can create unnecessary tension between the cadres of the two parties. Seat-sharing and other differences are better handled through discussions between the senior leadership rather than through public statements.

The TDP-Janasena-BJP partners need to understand that local elections are particularly sensitive because they involve ground-level leaders and cadres. Even small differences can turn into bigger issues if they are allowed to continue.

Lokesh’s warning, therefore, is timely. The TDP, Jana Sena and BJP need to keep personal egos and internal competition aside and focus on the larger political goal.

The alliance’s stability will depend not only on decisions taken by the top leadership but also on how responsibly the cadres and local leaders behave.

For the alliance to remain strong, an “ego war” between the cadres needs to be avoided, especially during the local body elections.
