Botsa’s New Version To Control Backlash Over Jagan’s Statement

YSRCP senior leader Botsa Satyanarayana appears to have given a new explanation on unanimous elections to avoid a backlash over party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s recent remarks. Botsa said there are two types of unanimous elections.

“Unanimous elections can happen in two ways. One is when the government encourages them for the development of a village. The other is when the ruling party does it for political benefit. Government-backed unanimous elections will continue even in the future. What our leader said was that they should not happen from a political party perspective,” Botsa explained.

Botsa’s cover up comes after Jagan’s remarks on unanimous elections triggered a debate across the political circles. YSRCP leaders themselves are reportedly baffled by Jagan’s statement, especially after he warned party leaders that representatives from constituencies where unanimous elections take place may not get tickets in the next election.

Meanwhile, Botsa strongly criticised former YSRCP leader Vijay Sai Reddy, calling him “another KA Paul” and saying that he speaks whatever he likes, but it won’t carry any weight. Botsa has reacted to the Speaker’s warning that the memberships of MLAs who do not attend Assembly sessions could be cancelled. He challenged the Speaker to go ahead and cancel their memberships if he had the power to do so, adding that the YSRCP would fight the matter through constitutional means.

Botsa also questioned Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s absence from four consecutive Cabinet meetings. He asked why Pawan had not attended the meetings and questioned his commitment to the government’s functioning. Questioning the AP government, Botsa asked why the government, which boasts about the Bhogapuram Airport, has failed to provide jobs to the staff of Visakhapatnam Airport.
