History @ Veligonda: CBN Makes It Special With Panche Kattu!

One of the most significant irrigation projects in the recent history of Andhra Pradesh has finally come to life today in the form of the inauguration of the Veligonda project.

Andhra Pradesh chief minister, Chandrababu Naidu, who had imagined and chalked out the vision for this massive water project is launching the first phase.

Today, for the first time, Krishna waters have passed through the Veligonda tunnel which is a historic moment that generations of people in this drought-hit region have waited to see.

Thirty years ago, in 1996, Chandrababu laid the foundation for this transformational project. Today, he dedicated Phase-I to the people of Andhra Pradesh and released 10.7 TMC of water into Nallamala Sagar.

In Phase-I alone, Veligonda will bring irrigation to 1.19 lakh acres and drinking water to nearly 4 lakh people. It is safe to say that this is going to be one of the most public centric implementations of the Chandrababu regime till date.

Naidu had been extensively focused on enhancing the irrigation water supply in the state, and this Veligonda Project launch will play a crucial role in fulfilling this dream.

To earmark this piece of history, Chandrababu did something interesting as he turned up in traditional Panche Kattu for the same. This happens to be one of the first times that he inaugurated a project in this kind of traditional outfit so it shows how much this project means to him.
