Revanth’s Delhi Tour To Decide Konda Surekha’s Future

Konda Surekha issue has been in the headlines for a while now. There have been several rumours, speculations on possible removal of Konda Surekha from Revanth Reddy’s cabinet. Surekha’s daughter Susmitha’s comments have deeply hurt CM Revanth Reddy and his associates.

Revanth is serious on the issue and there is a strong possibility of a strict action which could be removing her from the state cabinet. This whole political episode could come to an end during Revanth Reddy’s Delhi visit and decide Surekha’s fate.

Revanth is scheduled to leave for Delhi today morning. He is likely to meet several Union ministers in Delhi to discuss various projects and issues related to Telangana. However, the political focus of his Delhi visit is likely to be his meetings with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and AICC general secretary KC Venugopal tomorrow, Wednesday.

According to party sources, Revanth is expected to discuss the report submitted by the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee’s disciplinary committee on Konda Surekha and Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Chinna Reddy. Sources indicate that there is a strong possibility of action being taken against both leaders.

Surekha issue is particularly serious, say insiders. CM is reportedly unhappy with the remarks made by Surekha’s daughter Susmitha and is likely to strongly push for Surekha’s removal from the state Cabinet.

While CM Revanth may take some time to decide on a broader Cabinet expansion and the induction of new ministers, party sources say he is unlikely to back down on the Surekha issue. Revanth has also reportedly discussed the matter with Telangana Congress affairs in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan.

A few ministers and senior leaders are said to have approached her seeking action against Surekha to be avoided. However, sources say Natarajan has not given them any assurance. The final decision could depend on the Congress delhi high command’s discussions.

If the party leadership manages to convince CM Revanth to reconsider Surekha as she is a BC lady minister in the cabinet, there could still be a change in the decision. Otherwise, sources believe that Konda Surekha’s removal from the Telangana Cabinet is more likely. Revanth’s Delhi meetings are crucial in deciding Surekha’s political future.
