Jagan Hinting At Something By Attending MLAs’ Family Functions?

When YS Jagan was Chief Minister, complaints about his limited accessibility to MLAs and party leaders became a major political issue. The disconnect was widely seen as one of the factors that hurt the YCP ahead of the 2024 elections.

Now, out of power, Jagan appears to be taking a different approach. He is reportedly meeting YCP MLAs and cadres at Tadepalli once or twice a month while also making frequent appearances at family functions of sitting and former MLAs.

His visit to Kurnool today for the wedding of YCP leader SV Mohan Reddy’s son is another example of this new approach. Jagan has been attending family events of party leaders across the state, signalling a deliberate effort to remain connected with the leadership and cadre.

Many believe Jagan may have taken the criticism of his previous style seriously and is now in a preventive mode. By consistently staying in touch with leaders and appearing alongside them in public, he could send a strong message that he will stand with the party in difficult times.

However, whether this change can translate into stronger organisational support for YCP will depend on how effectively Jagan maintains this accessibility and responds to leaders when the party is actually under pressure.
