Japan has given India a big thumbs-up. The Japan Credit Rating Agency has upgraded India’s rating from BBB+ to A-, saying India’s economy is growing strongly and the country’s financial situation is getting better which means basically that the country could give more loans and invest in India too.
Now it’s CBN’s turn on how he could take more advantage of this and turn more Japanese money for AP?
There is already an interesting connection.
APCRDA is also looking towards Japan and JICA for loans for Amaravati and other infrastructure works. Discussions and proposals for Japanese support have been part of the Amaravati story for some time. After seeing Singapore’s big investments in Amaravati, now Japan can be the new country that could invest here. It is already a known fact that many of the metro projects and currently the bullet train projects are funded by Japan directly in India so far.
Now, Japan itself has said that it is confident about India’s growth. That naturally opens up a bigger opportunity for Andhra Pradesh.
And AP has plenty to offer. Amaravati is being built almost from scratch. Roads, public transport, water systems, government buildings and other major works will need huge amounts of money. Japan has experience in exactly these kinds of large infrastructure projects.
More importantly, Japan money usually comes with Japan’s technology and expertise as well. That can be a big advantage for a developing capital like Amaravati.
The Centre and AP government are already bringing money from different institutions for Amaravati. If Japan along with JICA also increases their support, it could give another major push to the capital city.
So, while the JCR rating upgrade is about India, Andhra Pradesh can certainly try to make the most of the opportunity.
Japan is becoming more confident about India. Now the question is whether AP can use that confidence to bring more Japanese loans, investment and technology into the state.
