Many senior bureaucrats of Andhra Pradesh got involved in several irregularities during the previous regime and ultimately paid a heavy price after the change of government.
Among them are DIG cadre IPS officers Vishal Gunni and Kanthi Rana Tata who were suspended over allegations linked to the high profile case of Bollywood actress Kadambari Jethwani.
After nearly two years, the government has lifted their suspension and both officers are now reinstated into service with immediate effect. Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad issued the official orders following a thorough review of their cases.
Both officers were suspended in September last year after the Mumbai-based actress had alleged that they acted with undue haste, illegally detained her, and registered false charges against her. The state government suspended the officers to ensure a fair investigation.
The decision to end the suspension comes after the Director General of Police submitted a detailed report to the state government. Additionally, the officers filed formal representations on August 24 asking for their return to duty.
This reinstatement brings relief to the officers after nearly two years of continuous suspension. During this period, the state government had extended their suspension multiple times to prevent any interference with witnesses.
Now that the main investigation steps are complete, the government approved their return to active service. The place of postings for both these officers will be issued shortly.
