Just last week, there were national media reports about Jagan possibly contemplating July 8 as the optimal date for the start of his Pada Yatra. There was a special connection behind this date as it marked YSR Jayanti.
Everyone thought Jagan would have picked this auspicious occasion of YSR Jayanti to start his new round of Pada Yatra. However, the latest confirmation from Jagan is that he has decided to avoid this date altogether.
In his elaborate meeting with YSR Congress leaders at his party office in Tadepalli today, Jagan confirmed that he would be starting his yatra next September or October.
“We are already in September this year and the next September will be coming in a blink of an eye. So, I would like to bring it to your notice that I would be starting my next Yatra by next September or October, and it will be going on till the next election.” Jagan announced today.
This comment coming from Jagan himself could be a direct confirmation that he could be starting the upcoming yatra in exactly a year from now. This would give him roughly 18 months to go for the 2029 election, which is about optimal period for the length of the Yatra too.
But more than the timing of this yatra, it is the emotional connect that will matter the most for Jagan. After having deserted the common public after becoming the CM in 2019, Jagan will have a tough challenge of convincing them again in this campaign. This could well be the biggest challenge for him at this point.
